WWE legend and actor John Cena declared his love for South Korean boy group BTS as he revealed that they offered inspiration to him during a time of struggle with self-worth.
Cena, who admitted that he was originally not a fan of K-pop, expressed his appreciation for BTS after the seven-member group connected with him on a personal level.
“I gotta speak truthfully and authentically. So, J-Hope is my guy. I don’t necessarily like K-pop. But I gravitate towards BTS,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd during the 2025 Fan Expo in Dallas.
The professional wrestler described BTS as “beautiful” individuals who help other people realize their self-worth, specifically him.

“What I love is people who looked and acted like they had it all, being open with their emotions in telling other people to start practicing self-love. And that hit me at a time in my life when I needed to practice some self-love,” he explained.
Despite having yet to watch a BTS show, Cena remarked that the boy group had given him hope amid a difficult time.
“What BTS specifically did for me is they found me at a right time in my life to give me hope and inspiration through who they are as people. They reached a 48-year-old dude who was struggling with self-worth. And I appreciate them for that,” he expressed.
Cena first declared his love for BTS in 2017 after he “proposed” to become the group’s bodyguard when the superstars came to the U.S. to perform.
Aside from his stellar wrestling career, Cena rose to fame for his starring roles in the films “The Suicide Squad” and “Trainwreck.” He also appeared in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, in the comedy-thriller “Argylle,” and the box office hit “Barbie.” /edv
