FEATURED STORIES

Written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, “Sunshine” tells the story of an aspiring gymnast (Racal) who discovers she’s pregnant during the tryouts week for the national team. She finds herself deciding whether to have her pregnancy terminated or to keep her baby.

It also stars Elijah Canlas, Xyriel Manabat, Meryll Soriano, Jennica Garcia, and Annika Co.

“Sunshine” was first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Palm Springs Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), where it won the Crystal Bear for Best Film.

In a brief interview in October 2024, Jadaone explained that she wanted to focus on bringing the film to international festivals before its premiere in the Philippines. /edv
