Viva Artists Agency reminded the public to be wary of deepfakes, after a video using Anne Curtis’ image to promote a fake “financial project” circulated on social media.
Deepfakes are AI-generated videos in which a person’s face or body is digitally altered to mimic another individual.
Viva posed a warning through its Instagram page on Monday, June 2, sharing a screenshot of the deepfake shared by a social media account under the name Investment Illumination.
“It has come to our attention that a certain Facebook page is using the image of one of our artists, ANNE CURTIS-SMITH, illegally without any authority whatsoever,” the talent management agency said.
“Please be informed that Anne is NOT connected in any way to the said Facebook page. The video is a DEEPFAKE, a product of Al (Artificial Intelligence), and was made without consent of Anne nor of Viva,” it stressed.
Viva further warned that those behind these acts “shall be dealt with severely and held civilly and criminally liable to the maximum extent possible under the law.”

“We urge the public to be vigilant and discerning of online scams and illegal uses of Al to mislead and spread fake information,” it continued.
“Don’t be misled,” it added in the caption. /ra
