'Flower Girl' to close 2025 New York Asian Film Festival

The IdeaFirst Company-produced movie “Flower Girl,” which stars Sue Ramirez, was announced as the closing film of this year’s New York Asian Film Festival in July.

The production company revealed this through its Instagram page on Thursday, June 19.

“‘Flower Girl,’ New York Asian Film Festival’s closing film!” it said. “Chosen as the closing film of the film festival known to showcase bold new Asian auteurs, ‘Flower Girl’ will have its international premiere in New York, USA.”

It further announced that Ramirez as well as film director Fatrick Tabada will be in attendance at the screening and Q&A session scheduled on July 27 at the SVA Theatre in West 23rd.

Ramirez also shared the announcement as she celebrated the film’s milestone through her Instagram page.

“Huge congratulations, team ‘Flower Girl’!” she began.  “It’s official! FLOWER GIRL will be the closing film at the New York Asian Film Festival this July 27!”

“Grateful and honored for the chance to share this story with the world,” she added.

The film, which premiered in local cinemas on June 18, tells the story of Ena, portrayed by Ramirez, who suddenly lost her private part after an apparent curse from a mysterious fairy.

Also among the cast members are Martin del Rosario, Jameson Blake, KaladKaren, and Maxie Andreison. /ra
