Red Sternberg was preparing for a showbiz comeback before his untimely death, close friend and fellow actor Michael Flores revealed in a recent interview.
Flores, alongside Bobby Andrews and Angelu de Leon, guested on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where they reminisced about Sternberg’s last moments, including plans for a showbiz return.
“He had plans to come back. He planned to be an artist again,” Flores shared. “He even asked me and Bob for advice, ‘Who can I talk to? Who is the manager who is still interested in hiring me?’ They planned to stay for a while if the outcome was okay.”
Flores added that Sternberg had been quietly working on himself and was excited to reconnect with fans for T.G.I.S.’s 30th anniversary.
“He was really excited to the point that he worked out, he went on a diet,” the actor stated.
The three T.G.I.S. stars noted that Sternberg, who was based in the US, was truly excited about coming home because there was already a reunion project for the cast members in progress.
“It hurts because we actually have a reunion project planned. We can’t reveal the details yet, but it’s already in place,” Flores shared. “Every reunion, when we get together, even if it’s just for a short time, the fans say, ‘Please, I hope you have a reunion project.’ So this time, something is indeed planned. It’s already at a certain percentage.”
De Leon then said that Sternberg’s death made her realize that “time is fleeting.”
“You really don’t know what will happen tomorrow. You have to think about getting healthy and do every single thing that you want to do,” expressed the actress.
Andrews, on the other hand, described his fellow actor’s death as a “wake-up call.”
“First, we’re not that young anymore. So, we have to start taking care of ourselves. But perhaps, more importantly, is to take advantage of the time you still have with your friends. Because it can be taken away from you at any time,” said the actor, who was in tears.
Sternberg died on the morning of May 27, just three days before his 51st birthday, as announced by his wife on social media. The cause of death was a heart attack.
Sternberg is best known for his roles in “T.G.I.S.,” “T.G.I.S.: The Movie” and “Silaw.” /ra
