The semi-finalists were selected based on their winning performances in the Fast Track challenges, closed-door interviews, and other pre-pageant related activities.

Sixteen candidates had already been selected for the Top 40 after winning their respective fast-track challenges.

Gravidez is on a quest to bring the Philippines’ second Miss World crown after Megan Young in 2013. According to the national pageant’s director, Arnold Vegafria, in April, he said that he has a “strong feeling” that she can win.

“This time, we’re expecting another honor and another victory for Miss World. I have a strong feeling that we will get a second crown for Miss World,” he said.

While she did not win any Fast Track challenge, she was considered one of the favorites to win the coveted blue crown, with pageant platform Missosology putting her in the ninth rank in its hot picks list. /edv
