Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have reportedly ended — this time with finality — their on-and-off relationship of eight years, multiple insiders said.

“It feels final this time,” an unnamed source told People, apparently alluding to the several times the couple reportedly separated and got back together.

Johnson and Martin, who first sparked romance speculations in 2017, had previously been hounded by breakup rumors in August 2024. The representative of the actress dismissed this at the time, saying the pair were “happily together.”

“Their relationship works because they are both very independent and actually have lives outside of their relationship,” a source privy to the couple’s romance was quoted as saying. “It’s like every time they are not spotted together for a while, there are breakup rumors.”

“Sure, they’ve had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can,” the insider added.

Johnson and Martin, who have kept a low profile when it comes to their relationship, reportedly got engaged in 2020, although no immediate confirmation was issued regarding this.

The pair were last seen in public together in May in Malibu.  /ra
