After Freddie Aguilar was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition, his family is planning to hold a memorial service to honor the late OPM singer.
Aguilar’s daughter, Shiaianne, announced on Facebook that those who wish to join their family for the upcoming memorial service can expect the details from them soon.
“A memorial service is in the works to celebrate Tatay and I will share more details soon for anyone who wishes to join us in honoring him. It will be announced directly through me, my siblings, and his wife, Jovie,” she wrote on Thursday, May 29.
Shiaianne also said that those who wish to visit Aguilar’s grave can do so at the Manila Islamic Cemetery, considering that the singer was buried within 24 hours of his death.
“We have celebrated his life through an Islamic Tradition at the Manila Islamic Cemetery (Manila South Cemetery). And if you want to visit him, I have attached in the comment section a photo of the rules and regulations that we have to follow,” she added.
The celebrity daughter noted that his father’s death was her “greatest fear in life” as she also penned a farewell message to Aguilar.
“No words can capture how much he means to me. Not just as an artist, but as the Tatay who shaped my heart, my strength, and my soul. He really is my everything,” she expressed.
“His voice may now rest, but his music and spirit will live on forever. In the songs he sang, the people he touched, and in me,” Shiaianne added as she also thanked the people who had kept his father in their hearts and prayers.
Aguilar died of multiple organ failure on Tuesday, May 27, at the age of 72. Prior to his death, he converted to Islam in 2013 to be able to marry his then 16-year-old girlfriend, Jovie. /edv
