Dolly de Leon, Jon Jon Briones cast in 'Avatar: The Last Air Bender' seasons 2, 3

Filipino actress Dolly de Leon and Filipino American actor Jon Jon Briones will portray the respective roles of twins Lo and Li, and Piandao in the second and third seasons of the live-action series “Avatar: The Last Air Bender.”

De Leon and Briones’ castings were announced via the show’s Instagram page on Tuesday, May 20.

Also joining the series are Dichen Lachman as Yangchen, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Lily Gao as Ursa, Tantoo Cardinal as Hama, and Madison Hu as Fei.

Briones and Cardinal will be featured in the third season, while the rest of the newcomers are in season 2. Previously announced season 2 cast members were Miya Cech, Chin Han, Hoa Xuande, Justin Chien, Amanda Zhou, Crystal Yu, Kelemete Misipeka, Lourdes Faberes and Rekha Sharma.

The new stars will be joining lead actors Gordon Cormier — the Filipino Canadian actor who plays Aang — Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), and Dallas Liu (Prince Zuko).

The filming for the second season of “Avatar: The Last Air Bender” was recently wrapped up, while the production for season 3 has already started.

The series, which premiered on Netflix in February 2024, is an adaptation of the Nickelodeon animated series that ran for three seasons from 2005 to 2008.  /ra
