Rabin Angeles admitted that taking on the role of Drake Palma is a tall order, as the character is different from his real-life personality.
Angeles was recently confirmed to star as Drake Palma in the upcoming series “Seducing Drake Palma,” an adaptation of the hit Wattpad novel which tells the love story of the titular character and Alys Perez.
“You will see a different Rabin here because his character is so different from Yuri’s in ‘Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E.’ Drake Palma has a deep personality even if he doesn’t have too many speaking lines,” Angeles said during a media launch when asked about his new project.
“This is a new challenge for me because I am used to having many lines to memorize, but here, there’s not much. But the scenes are all loaded with emotion, it’s only your eyes that should be speaking,” he continued. “[Drake and Yuri’s] personalities are worlds apart. This is a big challenge for me so I have to bring out my best here,” he said.
Angeles’ breakout role was as Yuri a red-headed character with a caring personality in the hit digital series “Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E.”
On the other hand, Drake’s character was that of a cold-hearted personality. If in his previous project his character has been showing his caring side to the lead, this time, he would be the complete opposite in “Seducing Drake Palma.”
“This time, I would start by being a snob to Alys Perez,” Angeles continued, adding that playing a “snob” is new to him but he is learning to get the hang of it. He said he tried to act snooty on set, but he said he had a hard time doing so.
Details on Angeles’ cast mates, possible changes in the plot, and the premiere date of “Seducing Drake Palma” are yet to be announced.
The upcoming adaptation will be directed by Crisanto Aquino. /edv
